With a celebration, we are looking back on the journey of the "Good China Story".

Welcome to World Book Day on 22 April at 10:00, the school-wide final of the first season of the reading competition in the Wanhui Theatre.
The sound of ideas is exciting.

11 narrators, 11 moderators.
35 thinkers, 11 groups of literary scene talkers.
22 commentators, 22 live feedbacks.
7 story types, 23 topics ......
The students enjoyed speaking, listening, asking, debating and talking,
interweaving narrative presentations and exploratory conversations with
expression as an outlet for reading and reflection.
The competition was a meeting place for literature, culture and love of ideas.

Time and space in the theatre

At the opening, Ms Zhang Xuemeng, the language subject leader, took the students on a reading journey from the past to the future looking back and looking forward

From the beginning of 2022 to today, the reading tour with the theme of "Good Chinese Stories" has lasted for 99 days, and Qingcheng has gone from snow-capped mountains to spring mountains.

While the six documentaries and six book series recommended are limited the reading sky for teenagers knows no bounds.

The "Narration Zone", the "Listening Zone", the "Little Study" and the "Commentary Zone" are all part of the "Discursive Reading Panorama".

13 theatre units: acollection of ideas in character rotation

The journey of reading.
There is the loneliness of looking up at the stars alone.
There is also the joy of a group of people who are in love.
In the theatre, we rotate through different roles
to make our own mark on the timeless classics.

Readers, authors and storytellers

We are the avid readers, the authors who give the work a second life, and the storytellers.

We communicate the ideas, the feelings and philosophies that emerge from reading through physical, linguistic, cognitive, social and emotional oral skills, lead to a theatrical romp through "Good Chinese Stories":

Questioners, communicators and discerning thinkers
We are polite questioners, open communicators and contributors of ideas.

We lead each theatre session by introducing the theme, introducing the speakers, directing and managing the interactions in the 'Little Study', pacing and leading the way.

We were in the "little study", thinking together, taking turns to speak, exchanging polite words, reflecting on stories, gossip and anecdotes, and adding to our general knowledge, reflecting on the past and the present of mankind:

Listeners, commentators and those who provide feedback

We are active listeners, encouraging complimenters and constructive commentators.

We engage all our senses to capture the messages in the story and respond appropriately through facial expressions and eye contact.

We observed and recorded the narrators' performance against the speaking skills framework studied by Professor Neil Mercer's team at Cambridge University and provided positive comments to help them think.

Performers and artists
We are passionate about creativity, expressing ourselves through the unique form of art and understand the persistence and perseverance required to refine every key and string.

Year 3 students, Gu Shihan, Huang Yitao and Lin Zisan, blessed this wonderful journey by playing the famous song adapted from our Chinese literary scholar, Su Dongpo's "Song of Water Tunes - When is the Bright Moon?

Wang Yixiu, a Year 4 student, once again played his masterpiece 'The Man Who Chased Time', with a sometimes cheerful and sometimes melodious sound, reminding us of these 99 days of reading.

Epilogue: Holding the trophy, we read the poem aloud

Mr. Yin Yuegang, Vice Principal of Wanhui Primary School and the initiator of the "Good Chinese Stories" reading competition, interviewed the students. They shared their most memorable works and events from the reading tour and shared their constructive comments on the competition.

Several lifelong readers wowed the audience with their performances in the Reading Competition, sharing the many joys of reading and the changes that the world has brought to the way we read today.

At the end of the storytelling theatre, Mr. Yin Yegang led the audience in reading poems to welcome World Book Day this year.
