Art Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education (2022 Edition)

You are welcome to open this article and join Wanhui Junior and the Amazing Cats on a fantastic journey of "diversity".

The wind of the Green City brushes through the sound of frogs on the Wanhui campus. In his dream world, the young man steps into the tropical rainforest, crosses the African grasslands, enters a secret land of ice and snow, meets birds and animals on the move, breaks into an Indian tribe and meets a magical cat at a cat ball. With her help, she dreams of returning to the land of heaven, taking her to listen to Sichuan opera, see pandas, get drunk on the scent of rice, hear a Taoist boy playing a flute, search for a dream school, experience campus life and meet her future self.
Childhood is a dream within the real, a real in the dream.

Prologue - Think and work like an artist

Creative expression, as we know, is an important outlet for curiosity.

The four academic subjects of Music, Form, Art and Pottery and the art clubs of Children's Choir, Dance Group and Wind Ensemble, the art workshops of Tie-Dye, Printmaking, Botanical Aesthetics Museum and Pottery, the extra-curricular interest classes of Piano, Wind Music, Announcer and Dance, together with the campus performances of Homework Exhibition (quarterly), Unplugged Concert (yearly) and Midday Concert (daily), form the Wanhui Primary School arts curriculum.
The Wanhui Artwork Exhibition, which is divided into two seasons, Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer, encourages children to think and work like artists, showcasing the work they have created in their daily lessons.

In the Spring/Summer 2022 Theatre Arts Portfolio, children explore the "diversity" of biology, culture and life, using audiovisual art to create a sustainable picture of humanity and nature at the Grand Theatre.

Chapter 1 - Dreaming of the Living World

The first chapter of the collection explores "Biodiversity". Moonlight, birdsong.

"Where am I? Am I dreaming?" The teenager wakes up in a magical dream world and is in a tropical rainforest.

The collaboration of the Wanhui Children's Choir sang "Fei Fei Song" like a hundred birds singing in unison, playing with the teenagers -
"Where am I?" "You're in a dream!"
"I'm in a dream?" "You're in the rainforest!"
"I'm in the rainforest?" "You are in an Indian tribe!"

Continuing on, the dance sketch creation "Into the Indian", the situational performance "Animals of the African Continent" and the situational performance "Animal City" create an American tribal and African grassland atmosphere respectively, shaping a variety of animal situations and scenes of people and animals getting along.

The classics play and experience 'Cats', which takes youngsters to the Cat's Ball to find the magic cat and set off on their way home.

Indulge in the melodies of gourd silk and moonlit phoenix-tailed bamboo in the Chinese dance class' stylistic dance performance 'Little Sister of the Dai Family'.

Fortunately, another magical and curious cat in the mini-cabaret creation "Frozen" is drawn to the youngster's account of his hometown and schoolyard fun and helps him to travel through his dreams.

Lush forests and bamboo, flying eagles and rabbits, bacteria and fungi ...... plants, animals and micro-organisms make up the colourful world of living things and our vibrant home.

"Chinese Roots, Global Competence" is the aim of Wanhui Education's parenting. Wanhui Art Education, highlighting the integrated curriculum, encourages children to connect art to personal, local, national and global perspectives, making life and living better through art.

Chapter 2 - Dreaming of the Land of Heaven

The second chapter of the collection explores "Cultural Diversity".

Culture is the unique mark of a city, and the root and soul of a city. The Chengdu Plain is known as the "Land of Heaven" and is an important birthplace of the ancient Shu civilisation.

As soon as Cat stepped into the land of heaven, she was drawn to the vibrant culture and life. The young guide, the cat asking questions and the questions and answers are all interesting.

The drama game "Singing Faces", the situational performance "Wonderful Zoo", the fun singing tour "Little Taoist Boy" and the fun singing tour "Fragrance of Rice" let them wander through a journey of Chinese drama culture, traditional Chinese festival culture, Qingcheng Taoist culture and the culture of the Dujiangyan Irrigation District.

Afterwards, they were attracted by the lovely pandas in the land of pandas and began to talk about the "cat family". The original dance sketch "A Happy Day" by the Wanhui Dance Company portrays the image of a cute panda and presents a beautiful picture of people, pandas and bamboo forests living in harmony.

The cat is happy to be back and the teenager is returning.

"For good, for beauty, for erudition, for self-improvement" are the values of the Wanhui community. Wanhui Art Education, insisting on educating people through beauty, allows students to pass on the excellent Chinese traditional culture and understand the diversity of world cultures and broaden their artistic horizons in the art curriculum.

Chapter 3 - Dreams of Wanhui Academy

The third chapter of the collection explores 'Diversity in Life'.

The teenager's longing for the school makes Cat wonder: is the school that attractive?

The teenager chatted with her about life on the Wanhui campus: academics, activities, food, fun, friendship ...... Cat was impressed and happy to go.

The Chinese Dance Class' multi-dance experience "Dance Technique Skills Demonstration", the Wanhui Band's collaborative performance "The Lone Brave Man", the fun sing-along "Listen to Your Mother", the choreography and presentation "Embrace with Your Future Self", and the story script "A Wonderful Day" were vivid performances of the daily life of Wanhui Primary School: busy, purposeful and enjoyable.

Cats develop a wide range of interests and stay for a long time.

"Curriculum as process, Curriculum as praxis". Wanhui Art Education with its emphasis on art experience stimulates students' interest and enthusiasm in participating in art activities, gaining real artistic perception and emotional experience in diverse professional practices, and improving artistic literacy and creative ability.

Epilogue - Children are natural artists and dreamers

He asked the room, "Do you know what I dreamt about?"
The class laughed heartily, "I know."
He said, "Thank you, all of you, for being involved in my dream. It turns out that we are all involved in each other's dreams."
At that moment, someone tapped him on the shoulder.
When he turned around, it was the cat that had travelled with him in the dream.

Without diversity, there would not be a hundred schools of thought.
Without whimsy, no dream can come true.
Without mistakes, there would be no excellence.
No step by step, no journey of a thousand miles.
Without toddlers, there is no such thing as flying.
......
Each one is inclusive, each one is challenging, each one is successful.
In Wanhui, dream boldly and go after it to your heart's content!
......
